From the front lines to the boardroom, storytelling is invaluable to create lasting impact!

Recent neurological research on the way we process information through stories has proven what the most effective leaders and communicators have known since the Stone Age, that storytelling is a powerful and effective way to infuse ideas into the hearts and minds of others for lasting impact.

In the business world, storytelling is an essential communications tool; it can make complex data accessible, cultivate relationships with products and people, rally teams around a strategy and fuel compelling narratives that shape organizational culture.

After completing the course, you will be able to:

  • Tell impactful stories in any professional context
  • Know when and how to insert a story into presentations and conversations
  • Create a library of stories they can use in professional settings
  • Develop their personal storytelling brand

Moreover, you will know how to apply storytelling to:

  • Communicate and present
    Engage the hearts and minds of your audience
  • Influence others and sell
    Inspire and motivate customers to purchase
  • Build relationships
    Connect through common ground, share values and experiences
  • Shape organizational culture
    Select, craft and communicate stories that illustrate the desired culture
  • Lead people
    Motivate and inspire a team towards a desired outcome

How it works:

Storytelling at Work is an experiential, cohort-based virtual learning experience that utilizes video, peer coaching and individual and group assignments to participants into powerful business storytellers.

Participants complete one learning lab per week over the course of 6 weeks. Each learning lab (lesson plus assignments and peer feedback) requires about 1-3 hours to complete.

Technology requirements:

  • A computer and fast internet connection capable of playing video.
  • A webcam or camera phone to record video of yourself and the ability to upload footage to your team workspace for feedback (does not have to be high-quality).
  • Some project teams choose to meet via video conference. Access to free video conferencing software (Google Hangout, Skype, etc.) is helpful but not required.
